WINDHOEK, 25 NOV (NAMPA) - President Hage Geingob will this week depart for Malta to take part in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) taking place at the weekend.
According to the preliminary order of events issued by the Commonwealth Secretariat (CS), based in the United Kingdom (UK), the topics under discussion by the various Commonwealth member states include climate change and reports on any progress in the eradication of polio.
Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Albertus Aochamub told Nampa in a telephonic interview on Tuesday that due to the President's busy schedule this week regarding the Regional Council and Local Authority Elections, the Head of State will not be able to attend all discussions and meetings lined up for the CHOGM in Malta.
Namibia will be represented by several high-ranking Government officials at the event.
President Geingob will after the Commonwealth meeting fly to London, UK for the Global Africa Investment Summit where he will present Namibia on the most bankable projects on 01 and 02 December.
The Press Secretary added that Geingob is also scheduled to attend an Africa/China Summit on the 03 and 04 December in Pretoria, South Africa before returning back home.
Consisting mostly of former British territories, the Commonwealth has 53 members that span from Africa and Asia to the Americas, Europe and the Pacific.
