OTJIWARONGO, 23 NOV (NAMPA) – The special voting exercise for the Regional Council and Local Authority Elections are underway at Otjiwarongo.
Special voting caters for polling officials, police officers and other citizens who applied to vote in advance of the official 27 November voting day, as they might not be able to vote then due to their occupation or other reasons.
The ECN’s Otjozondjupa Regional Co-ordinator, Faith Matladi told Nampa in interview on Monday the special voting kicked off on a peaceful note on Monday at 09h00.
She said the seven polling stations in each constituency in the region are expected to close at 19h00 on Monday.
“This special voting exercise is for those officials who will be working at the different ECN polling stations outside their registered constituencies and local authority areas on the actual national voting day this Friday,” she said.
Matladi said police officers who will deployed to maintain law and order at the polling stations are also allowed to participate in the special voting exercise.
Eligible voters who are 18 years and above are expected to cast their votes for their preferred candidates in the Regional Council and Local Authority Elections on Friday.
Matladi said the total number of voters expected to cast their votes on Monday would be announced during the course of the day.
