Windhoek, 19 NOV (NAMPA) – The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Erica Shafuda has assured that police officers, soldiers, teachers and nurses will receive their salaries on Friday.
She said this on Thursday after Nampa approached her to comment about an internal memo of the Finance Ministry issued on 17 November stating that the system which deals with the processing of payments was out of order and might only be back on 23 November. This memo was addressed to all Accounting Officers in the affected ministries.
“We have rectified the matter so I assure you that people will get paid,” Shafuda said.
The memo was leaked by the leader of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement, Job Amupanda on Twitter on Thursday with a comment that 'police officers, soldiers, teachers and nurses will not get paid on Friday. Salary system in shambles! Cashloans OshaWizWiz!'
