Girl raped at Usakos

WINDHOEK, 08 NOV (NAMPA) - A 30-year-old man was arrested at Usakos in the Erongo Region after he allegedly raped an underage girl at the town over the weekend.
The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi told a media briefing here on Sunday the suspect is apparently related to the victim, and is said to be a nephew.
It is reported that the rape took place on Friday at an unknown time at Saamstaan location in Usakos.
The police investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the police also reported that a docket of inquest has been opened at Swakopmund following the death of a teacher there on Friday.
It is reported that the 51-year-old Zambian national Viola Mapani, who was a teacher at the Sunshine Private School in Windhoek, died on Friday at about 20h30 at Swakopmund.
Mapani arrived at the Swakopmund Municipal Bungalows while on tour with her colleagues on Friday. While they were having a meeting she collapsed.
She was immediately rushed to a local hospital and was declared dead upon arrival.
Her next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue, said Kanguatjivi.
