RUNDU, 23 OCT (NAMPA) -
The recently completed 14 000 metre square Rundu Shopping Mall will open its doors next week Wednesday. Safland Namibia?s Head of Asset Management, Mirinda van der Merwe announced in a statement on Wednesday that the new mall is a game changer and defines the central business district of Rundu.
"The Rundu Mall is designed to create an assembly point for potential customers who use taxis as means of travel and we know that the mall will also attract customers from as far as Divundu, as this is the only shopping centre with a comprehensive tenant mix in the area," Van der Merwe said.
The mall, she said, has accommodated tenants that the public have asked for, as well as tenants that were not represented in the area. These tenants are Shoprite; Jetmart; Edgars Active; Legit; KFC; Clicks; Streethouse; Dodo?s; Johan Craig; American Swiss; Sportscene; Total Sports; Bata Shoes; Studio 88; OTB Sport; Hungry Lion; and a fully-fledged First National Bank (FNB) branch, in addition to the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Bank.
According to Van der Merwe, Phase One of the shopping mall was completed in May 2015, and part of Phase Two was the upgrading and extension of the old Rundu Shopping Centre. Rundu Mall is Safland's sixth shopping centre completed in the last four years.
Other shopping centres currently under construction are the second biggest mall in Namibia, Dunes Mall at Walvis Bay, and the extension of Gwashamba Mall at Ondangwa. The development of the Gobabis Mall and Oasis Mall in Oshakati will start in early 2016.
