WINDHOEK, 18 OCT (NAMPA) -
The Namibia power utility (NamPower) Board of Directors appointed Kahenge Simson Haulofu as acting Managing Director (MD) with immediate effect. He is a Divisional Manager: Generation at NamPower.
Haulofu's appointment follows the resignation of acting MD Hanri Jacobs. The reason for her resignation is not clear. Jacobs was appointed to act after the suspension of the company's MD, Paulinus Shilamba on 23 July this year.
In a statement issued to Nampa on Friday, NamPower Company Secretary, Susan Mavulu said Haulofu will be acting until further notice. "The Board of Directors would like to extend appreciation to Jacobs for her unwavering commitment in the execution of duties during her tenure as acting managing director," Mavulu said.
She said the Board would like to assure the nation that NamPower will continue to do everything in its power to ensure security of supply, despite the current challenging power supply situation in Namibia and the southern African region at large.
Shilamba has been suspended for allegedly authorising payments of funds for a tender that exceeded his level of authority.
