Boy drowns at Dolphin Park

SWAKOPMUND, 18 AUG (NAMPA) - A 12-year-old boy who was at the coast on a school tour drowned at the popular Dolphin Park resort situated between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay on Saturday morning.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Crime Investigations’ Coordinator for the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa told Nampa on Sunday the boy attended a school in Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region.
She could however not release the name of the deceased as his next of kin was still to be informed.
In a separate incident, one person was killed instantly in an accident which occurred late on Friday evening.
Kashuupulwa explained that the vehicle, a Nissan Navara, overturned after it was hit on the side by a truck.
The vehicle had been headed in the direction of Walvis Bay from Windhoek when the accident occurred some 10 kilometres outside Arandis.
Three people sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious, and they were transported to the Swakopmund State Hospital.
Kashuupulwa also reported that six shacks burned down in the Kuisebmond residential area in Walvis Bay on Saturday.
She said the cause of the fire is not yet known, but said no one was injured during the incident.
