WINDHOEK, 15 OCT (NAMPA) -
Boxing promoter Kinda Nangolo has reiterated his call for the Namibian nation and especially the corporate world to come on board for his boxing bonanza set for 30 October.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Gateway Centre in Khomasdal. The main bout on the night will be Anthony Jarman against Jeff Ontembio from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in an international welterweight fight.
Speaking during the announcement of the boxing bonanza here on Thursday, boxing stable chairperson Nangolo said: "You know that hosting a boxing tournament is not cheap and at the moment we are looking at N.dollars 350 000 to N.dollars 400 000 that will be spent on hosting this event. In order for this tournament to be a success, we are calling on the nation and the corporate world to come on board and assist us financially".
All the bouts on the night will be non-title fights, but the Kinda stable is busy negotiating to have a title fight on the night. "You know that if one is to stage an international title bout you will need a lot of money to host such an event, but we are in negotiations to see if Jarman's fight can be changed to a title fight. But we will be communicating to the media in due time if there are any changes," he stated.
Speaking at the same occasion, Jarman said he is ready for the fight and credit should be given to Kinda for his hard work in giving every boxer with talent a chance to showcase it. The price of tickets will be announced at a later stage. (NAMPA) HK/ND/LI
