SWAKOPMUND, 17 AUG (NAMPA) – A 38-year-old man charged with the alleged rape of five boys made his first appearance in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Johan Gentle, who stands accused of five charges of rape, appeared before Magistrate Nelao Brown. The State opposed bail.
The matter was postponed to 29 October 2013 to enable Gentle to obtain legal representation, and to allow for further police investigations.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Crime Investigations’ Coordinator for the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa informed Nampa that the suspect was arrested on Thursday.
She explained that according to statements obtained by the victims, who are aged 13 and older, Gentle allegedly used them for sexual gratification. He is said to be a married man.
Kashuupulwa also mentioned that it is unclear when exactly the alleged sexual activities between the accused and the victims occurred.
