Nedbank opens a new branch in Tsumeb

WINDHOEK, 12 OCT (NAMPA) – Nedbank continues to expand its national footprint with the opening of its branch in Tsumeb on Friday.
Speaking at the official opening of the branch, Nedbank Managing Director (MD) Lionel Matthews said Tsumeb has always played an integral role in the economic growth of Namibia.
He said in his statement availed to Nampa on Friday Tsumeb has not only spawned significant wealth and enterprise, but also contributed immensely to the leadership base of Namibia.
“This town has a rich history that resonates well with Nedbank Namibia’s own values and devotion to the cause of growth and prosperity,” said Matthews.
The opening of the Tsumeb branch sees Nedbank reaching a total of 30 branches across the country.
Matthews further said the bank was not only expanding its brick and mortar footprint, but is also in the process of upgrading its technology.
“At the moment Nedbank has some of the brightest minds on the continent working to prime our banking platform for enhanced efficiencies,” he added.
Also speaking at the opening, the Mayor of Tsumeb, Dangi Linekela Shetekela said the Tsumeb Municipal Council has adopted a policy of economic diversification and the recent growth in various economic sectors is an indication that the town is growing exponentially.
“We welcome the presence of Nedbank and look forward to assisting you to establish the Nedbank brand here and also beyond our borders,” said the Mayor.
The inauguration was also attended by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tsumeb municipality, Alpheus Benjamin, other councillors of the Tsumeb Town Council, local business people and members of the public.
