Welwitschias thrashed by Argentina

WINDHOEK, 11 OCT (NAMPA) - The Welwitschias on Sunday lost its last match of Pool C 19-64 against the Pumas of Argentina at the 2015 Rugby World Cup currently underway in England.
The match against Argentina was the fourth and last Pool C game in the senior national rugby team’s 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign.
In their first match of the tournament against defending champions New Zealand, they lost 14-58 and in the second game they lost 21-35 to Tonga. Their third match against Georgia they lost 16-17.
Argentina opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute with a try, which was converted. They extended their score line with a penalty to make it 0-10 for the Pumas in the 12th minute.
In the 14th minute Namibia scored their first try of the game after Johan Tromp capitalised on a wrong pass by the Argentinian players. Theunus Kotze converted the try.
Before the half-time break, Argentina ran in four tries, three of which were converted.
The half time score was 7-36 in favour of Argentina.
In the second half the Pumas were still the more dominant side, finding loopholes in the Namibian defence, but JC Greyling scored Namibia’s second try of the afternoon which Kotze converted.
The Pumas then extended their lead after they managed to run in five more tries in their last Pool C game.
Namibia scored their third try of the match, which was their last at the 2015 World Cup in the 81st minute through Eugene Jantjies, but it was not converted.
The final score was 19-64 for the Pumas who progressed to the next round of the competition.
With the defeat Namibia ended bottom of Pool C with one point, while New Zealand and Argentina qualified to the next round.
Georgia ended third in the group, which automatically qualified them for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, while Tonga ended fourth on six points.
The Welwitschias are expected back in the country next week.
