KEETMANSHOOP, 11 OCT (NAMPA) – The High Commission of India, in partnership with the Namibian Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, and the City of Windhoek, will present an Indian folk dance and music performance in the capital on Tuesday.
A 12-member dance troupe from India will conduct a show from 18h30 to 21h00 at the Zoo Park Amphitheatre in the capital.
An additional performance is planned for the Namibian student community to give them exposure to Indian folklore and traditional dances.
“Originating from the Punjab province of India, ‘Bhangra and Giddha’ is a highly energetic and rhythmic folk dance performed by artists clad in fascinating colourful costumes,” a media release from the High Commission reads.
The rich and pulsating drum beats combined with joyous singing are unique to this dance form that holds the audience spellbound, the statement further notes.
The presentation is made possible under a cultural agreement between India and Namibia.
Additional information regarding the shows can be obtained from the High Commission of India.
