WINDHOEK, 11 OCT (NAMPA) – Three men were arrested in Windhoek in the early hours of Saturday morning in possession of stolen construction equipment.
The equipment – including a compacting machine, land measuring equipment and a water compressor - were allegedly stolen from the Afrideca group at Prosperita.
Constable Enza Wilhelm of the City Police told Nampa on Saturday the suspects were driving a silver Toyota taxi when they were pulled over by patrolling officers who spotted the vehicle driving with its lights off.
Upon inspecting the vehicle the officers discovered the stolen equipment.
The suspects were arrested and the owner of the equipment was informed.
In light of what happened, constable Wilhelm cautioned business owners against leaving their establishments unattended.
“Business owners should be concerned about the people they employ and should place security guards on the premises to protect their business and establishments,” Wilhelm said.
The Afrideca group's business activities include construction and civil engineering. It operates in both Namibia and South Africa.
