WINDHOEK, 22 SEP (NAMPA) -

A man collapsed and died mysteriously after puffing on a cigarette at about 14h20 on Tuesday along Independence Avenue in the capital.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus informed Nampa shortly after the incident that the deceased has been identified as Robert Joseph, 55.

According to witnesses, Joseph crossed the road from a Cash Loan business in Independence Avenue and bought a cigarette from a vendor. He lit it, puffed a few times and started trembling. Joseph apparently told the vendor that he was stressed by someone who took his money, before falling to the ground.

Matheus said Joseph was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. The cause of death is not yet known, and police investigations into the matter continue.
