Man hangs himself with bedsheet near Rundu

MAZANA, 14 AUG (NAMPA)- A 49-year-old man allegedly hanged himself with a bedsheet attached to a tree branch at the Mazana village, situated some 10km east of Rundu on Tuesday morning.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Crime Investigations Co-ordinator here, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton on Wednesday said they have not yet established the reason for the suicide as no note was left behind.
The deceased was identified as Mathias Maseka, a resident of the Mazana village.
His next of kin were informed.
In an unrelated incident, the police arrested a 15-year-old boy after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at the Halili village, situated some 70km west of Rundu on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a police report, the suspect allegedly took the victim into the bush by force, beat her up and then sexually assaulted her.
The minor victim allegedly sustained serious injuries, and has since been admitted to the Rundu State Hospital.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrates Court on Thursday on a charge of rape.
