WINDHOEK, 22 SEP (NAMPA) -
A 28-year-old man died after he was stabbed in the head by a group of unknown attackers at Okahandja on Tuesday morning.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s spokesperson for the Otjozondjupa Region, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb confirmed the incident to Nampa on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at about 02h00 after the group of 10 unknown attackers allegedly approached the deceased and his friend and asked them for a cigarette. A fight allegedly then broke out between the two men and the group of attackers.
Khairabeb said the deceased, who was identified as Stefanus Katambo, was stabbed once in his head and died on the spot.
The other victim sustained seven stab wounds but managed to escape from the group. He was later hospitalised at the Okahandja State Hospital.
"No arrests have been made so far. The suspects are not yet known as the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning while it was still dark," he said.
Khairabeb did not provide any details on the specific location where the incident occurred. The deceased's next of kin have been informed.
