Standard Bank celebrates 100 years of business

WINDHOEK, 19 SEP (NAMPA) - Standard Bank Namibia recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary with a parade down the Windhoek city centre.
A media statement issued by Standard Bank’s Manager of Public Relations and Communication, Surihe Gaomas-Guchu Friday said hundreds of Standard Bank employees walked down Independence Avenue from Ausspannplatz to the Windhoek Branch in the central business district.
Customers of the bank also received cupcakes on the day.
“The purpose of the street parade and sweet delights for our walk-in customers at the branches is to show our appreciation to them for standing by us and joining in celebrating this milestone event,” says Jacquiline Pack, Standard Bank Namibia’s Head of Marketing was quoted as saying in the statement.
Standard Bank opened its first commercial branch in Lüderitz on 19 August 1915. The bank currently has 50 branches and agencies throughout Namibia.
