UPDATE: Namfisa CEO dies in car accident

OTJIWARONGO, 12 SEP (NAMPA) - Phillip Shiimi, the chief executive officer of the Namibia Financial Institutions’ Supervisory Authority (Namfisa), died in an accident on the Otjiwarongo-Otavi road on Saturday.
He was 43 years old.
The spokesperson of the (Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Saturday a 43-year-old man died in the accident.
She said the accident occurred at about 05h30, some 68 kilometres from Otjiwarongo to Otavi on the B1 road.
Shiimi and his wife, Eli, were driving to northern Namibia in their white Toyota pick-up double-cab.
Eli, 40, survived the accident and was admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital in a serious condition.
Shiimi drove into the trailer of a truck that was parked next to the road, and died upon impact.
NamPol’s Inspector Slogan Matheus said the truck had been parked on the side of the road but a part of its trailer protruded onto the road.
The 34-year-old truck driver, Jonas Muule, escaped unharmed.
