Bank Windhoek Holdings honored four outstanding individuals in the group by awarding them with the prestigious Group Managing Director Awards.

The awards were handed to recipients at the Annual Executive Awards of Bank Windhoek Holdings, which took place in Windhoek on Thursday, 3 September 2015.

The Group Managing Director Awards consists of four categories namely Secretary/PA for Branches, Secretary/PA for Support Services, the MD’s Leadership Award for non-managerial staff and the MD’s Leadership Award for managerial staff.

Windsor Markus, Treasury Sales Manager at Bank Windhoek, won the leadership award in the category for managerial staff for his inspirational and exemplary leadership, his flexibility to respond to change and his “can-do” attitude. The criteria on which Windsor was selected to receive the Award included leadership skills; relationship building; results orientation; accountability, conflict management and the ability to manage change.

Windsor, as well as the other three recipients of the MD’s Awards, was selected by a panel consisting of the Bank Windhoek Holdings and Bank Windhoek Executive Management teams who assessed all the nominations received for this award.  Sheida Thiskusho from Bank Windhoek’s Rundu branch was awarded the MD’s Leadership Award for non-managerial staff. She was selected based on her results orientation; accountability; customer service orientation and teamwork.

Wilna Munnik from Bank Windhoek’s Main branch received the Group Managing Director’s Award for PA/Secretary in the category for Branches, while Anita Strydom from the Bank’s Retail Banking Services Department received the Award as PA/Secretary for Support Services.

Over the past few years the Executive Awards have evolved from Bank Windhoek Awards to Bank Windhoek Holdings Awards to include the other companies in the Bank Windhoek Holdings Group namely Capricorn Asset Management and Welwitschia Insurance Brokers.

“Every year we add and extend the range of awards and this year we extended the MD’s Leadership Awards for Management and Non-Management as well as the PA/Secretary of the Year Awards for Branches and Support Services to all staff members employed in the Bank Windhoek Holdings Group,” Managing Director Christo de Vries said.

“Of all the awards handed over at the Annual Executive Awards, these four MD’s Awards are unique, in that anyone in the Bank Windhoek Holdings Group could nominate a colleague for one of these awards and recognize the achievements of their peers. We are indeed privileged to work for a successful group that provides an environment for staff to prosper, grow and develop and that recognizes and rewards hard work and performance. The saying goes: “Treat employees like they make a difference and they will. Although not all staff members received an award – they have definitely contributed in some or other way to the overall success of the Bank Windhoek Holdings Group over the past year.” De Vries said.
