OKAKARARA, 05 SEP (NAMPA) – The Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development on Friday promised to continue its unwavering support to the Okakarara Annual Trade Fair.
Line Minister, Immanuel Ngatjizeko said this in a speech delivered on his behalf on Friday during the official opening of this year’s event.
The trade fair started on 31 August and will come to an end on Sunday.
He said their support is to encourage the majority of business entrepreneurs across the country to grow and become economically productive citizens.
The ministry financially supported the construction of the Okakarara Trade Fair Centre and other business facilities through its subsidiary implementing agency, the Namibia Development Corporation (NDC).
Ngatjizeko said the ministry is now engaged in discussions with the Okakarara Trade Fair Society to identify new possible capital projects that would stimulate growth of the local business enterprises in the Okakarara Constituency.
He said inhabitants of this constituency had previously centred most of their sources of income on cattle farming, which he said needs to expand to other economic means and activities in the future.
Ngatjizeko assured the local business community that his ministry will continue to assist the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs with business equipment so they can increase production.
A total of 200 local and international exhibitors are participating.
The chairperson of the Okakarara Trade Affair Society, Elia Kandjii said he is satisfied with the safety and security, as well as the progress and growth of the fair this year.
A large number of local people as well as several businesspeople in and around Okakarara, local and regional constituency councillors attended the official opening on Friday.
