N$7m NamZim building inaugurated
Minister of Information and Communication Technology Tjekero Tweya officially inaugurated the N$7 million Namibia and Zimbabwe Newspapers (NamZim) today.
Tweya applauded NamZim saying they are doing a good job in terms of reporting factual and positive information and for that reason the government saw it fit to give the resources for this building.
“It is my pleasure to inaugurate this new building and also celebrate its 11th anniversary. I would also like to congratulate the Board of Directors for having kept the direction of the company for what is was meant for. As to the Journalist I would like to say you have created your own identity and excelled yourselves in how you work and made sure you were separated from the others,” Tweya said.
Tweya noted that the NamZim paper was seen as an alternative to other media houses, “many have complained that the Southern Times is propaganda but it is not at all, it was just meant to be a paper that brings you Southern African Development Community (Sadc) and brings news from an African perspective.”
Meanwhile Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Namibia Rofina Chikava said the NamZim joint venture is a successful one.
“This is liberating our countries, it shows the ties of blood and of a historical nature especially with the coming up of this initiative,” Chikava said.
