WINDHOEK, 01 SEP (NAMPA) – The DTA of Namibia Youth League will hold its elective congress in the capital from 11 to 13 September.
The congress was supposed to take place only next year. This means the term of the current leaders of the youth league will be cut short.
The DTA Youth League held its last congress in 2012 at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region, where a new leadership was elected.
The youth league's congress, which takes place every four years, has been brought forward due to internal arrangements, DTA Youth League Secretary-General Bensen Katjirijova announced during a media briefing here on Tuesday.
He said there will be around 120 delegates representing all 14 regions at the congress.
Four positions will be contested during the congress – that of secretary-general, deputy secretary-general, national chairperson and vice chairperson.
Katjirijova also announced that all candidates are permitted to commence with their election campaigns in an honest and respectful manner.
He indicated that there are also other positions to be filled in the league’s Central Committee.
