Pretty, Sporty Steffie

Name: Steffi van Wyk
Age: 23
Relationship Status: Single
Occupation: Sports Organiser
Tell us more about yourself, who you are and where you come from?
I grew up in Otjiwarongo. I liked playing outside and doing all kinds of sport because I was a very hyperactive child. Spending time at the farm on weekends was my ultimate favourite. I am a sports fanatic and love seeing people reach their full potential.

Since when has modelling been part of you, any memorable experience thereof?
I have always been involved in sports and the opportunity to do both sports and modelling never presented itself. I worked hard in preparation of the Miss Namibia pageant and love doing modelling now that I actually had the opportunity to participate.

What is your thought on the local modelling industry and the Miss Namibia initiative?
I believe that modelling should be seen as a sport and should also be taken very seriously. I believe that there are modelling agencies in Namibia that deliver amazing models, but an increase in exposure will only be beneficial for the young girls out there who dream of becoming Miss Namibia one day.
What art do you most identify yourself with?
I love paintings and portraits of sunsets and nature. I get lost in the art sometimes because I imagine being there. Portraits about nature and deserts.
What’s your most vivid memory of your childhood?
The joys of being allowed to be a child and to participate in any and every sport my heart so desired. We need to allow the children of today the opportunity to be children and play. We need to steer away from technology when children are still in their developmental phase.

What season best describes you, why?
I love summer because I love the sun. I think summer describes my personality perfectly.

What was your scariest experience?
The first time the aircraft descended and my first landing as a passenger on an airplane.

Which international model inspires you, why?
Behati Prinsloo because she grew up in Grootfontein. She taught me that it doesn't matter where you come from, but where you are going in life.

Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
There are a few actually. Every time a family member or friend encouraged me to pursue my dreams inspired me to challenge myself every time I did anything in life.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?
When I say things that I am not supposed to say, that is definitely one of the most embarrassing moments for me.

What food, drink, song best describes you?
Food: Beef Steak and dry lemon.

What charity work is close to your heart, why?
I have not formed part of a charity yet, but I would love to inspire the youth to start setting goals and develop ambition to live purposeful lives.

What do you like about modelling?
Modelling is an amazing experience because it allows you to build self-confidence. It also allows you to interact with different personalities and people from different cultural backgrounds.

Beauty tips to fans?
A heartfelt smile is a person's best accessory. When you love yourself, the beauty radiates from inside which makes you automatically more beautiful.

What makes you angry?
When people pretend to be what they are not, and their true colours come to light.

If you would have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would want the ability to spread love so that everyone can love their neighbour as their equal.

Name something you love, and why?
I love dogs because they have such beautiful souls, are man's best friend and are such loyal creatures.

Favourite or most inspirational place?
I love being in church because every time I walk out the doors I feel inspired to be a better person.

What’s the best piece of advice you've been given?
The best advice I've received is to stay true to who you are and not let circumstances or people change that.
