Eight-year-old boy drowns in the Okavango River

RUNDU, 24 AUG (NAMPA) – An eight-year-old boy is believed to have drowned in the Okavango River on Friday afternoon at Kashira village.
The village is situated some 90 kilometres east of Rundu in the Ndiyona Constituency.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s acting Regional Crime Investigation Coordinator for Kavango East, Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Monday the deceased has been identified as George Mukaya.
Mubebo said the deceased went for swimming with his sisters aged 15 and 13 when he got overpowered by the water and drowned.
The boy's family had been at the village for the school holidays.
His body is yet to be recovered.
