ONGWEDIVA, 24 AUG (NAMPA) - The Oshiwambo vernacular weekly newspaper, Kundana, celebrated its second anniversary at the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) on Sunday.
The newspaper’s anniversary was celebrated at the OATF’s New Era Publication Corporation (NPC) stand. Kundana was also launched at the OATF in 2013.
About 15 000 copies of Kundana are published for countrywide distribution every Friday.
Toivo Ndjebela, managing editor of the NEPC under which Kundana falls, told those who attended the celebration that the newspaper is selling well and only a few copies are returned every week.
He went on to say it is unique in that it is the only indigenous newspaper distributed nationwide.
The newspaper’s deputy editor, Helvy Shaanika also spoke at the event.
“We are doing marvellous because even State House also calls us because of a story published in Kundana,” she said.
The chairperson of the OATF preparatory committee, Damian Egumbo was given the honour of cutting the cake at the celebration.
