Naeltjie oil allegedly causes death

WINDHOEK, 23 AUG (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old soldier collapsed at his home and was declared dead upon arrival at the Walvis Bay State Hospital on Saturday.
The Erongo Police are now investigating the incident which happened at the Tutaleni residential area.
The deceased was identified as Moses Witbeen, a member of the Namibian Defence Force at the coastal town.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Inspector Slogan Matheus said during a media briefing here on Sunday that the deceased was drinking at this residence with some friends when he apparently took Lennon Naeltjie oil and drunk it. The deceased then started vomiting and collapsed. The homeopathic oil is believed to help to relieve toothache and flatulent colic.
In another incident, the Windhoek Police are investigating a case of armed robbery and assault after a 46-year-old Chinese national was held at gunpoint on Saturday evening at his residence along Riethaan Street in the Pionierspark residential area.
It is alleged suspects entered the house, pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money and other valuables.
The suspects fled the scene with two laptops, three mobile phones, a leather jacket and an unknown amount of cash.
The value of the items is estimated at N.dollars 160 000.
Police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Windhoek Police confiscated two parcels of cannabis and 10 mandrax tablets hidden inside clothes brought into a police station for a person in custody.
The drugs were brought in by a family member of the man in custody.
