RUNDU, 20 AUG (NAMPA) - Nedbank and Old Mutual Namibia has donated a combined N.dollars 113 275 to Women’s Action for Development (WAD) to host the organisation’s field days for 2015.
This is according to a statement issued by the corporate marketing and communications officer at Nedbank Namibia, Jacky Tjivikua on Wednesday.
The donation was handed over last month at the Kavango East field day and graduation, which saw close to 150 women graduate in sewing, hospitality, and office administration, amongst other fields.
Field day training has proven to be very popular, presenting key learning to community members. The training is supported by decision-makers at regional and local authority level, and by community leaders.
The statement said Nedbank’s partnership with WAD has been a mainstay of the bank’s corporate social investment programme for some time. The bank further expressed trust that the partnership will further enhance WAD’s efforts of uniting people to help fight poverty and contribute positively to the upliftment of women in disadvantaged communities.
WAD has been empowering primarily rural women and men in the socio-economic and social upliftment fields for the past 21 years, with the aim of complementing the work of government in its efforts to reduce poverty and unemployment.
