Okakarara man stabbed to death after quarrel

OKAKARARA, 08 AUG (NAMPA) - A 22-year-old Okakarara man died here in the early morning hours of Thursday after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by another man.
The incident occurred at around 04h00 at the Okakarara Sports Stadium.
The deceased has been identified as Gustaf Kauatjama, the son of the head of the Otjiwarongo Municipality’s Traffic Department, Senior Superintendent Lesley Kauatjama.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Deputy Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Gerhard Uataurua Mavenjono confirmed the incident to Nampa, saying the deceased was stabbed once in the chest with a homemade knife and died on the spot.
“It happened this morning, and the accused person is not apprehended yet as he is still on the run,” he stated.
Mavenjono said the police had taken the deceased’s body to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital mortuary, and investigations into the matter continue.
This news agency also contacted Kauatjama, who said he was on his way from Otjiwarongo to Okakarara to find out what exactly had happened.
