WINDHOEK, 09 AUG (NAMPA) An unknown man shot and killed the driver of another vehicle, who bumped his vehicle from behind in the capital on Sunday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Spokesperson Slogan Matheus told a media briefing here on Sunday that the incident took place in front of Jokers Pizzeria and Sports Bar in Bell Street at about 00h30.
The shooting followed after the suspects white Volkswagen (VW) Polo GTI he was driving was bumped from behind by a silver Land Rover Discovery SUV.
Matheus said witnesses at the scene informed NamPol that the driver of the VW jumped out of his vehicle, drew a pistol and fired several shots randomly at the Land Rover before driving away.
The driver of the Land Rover died on the scene. He has been identified as Finnish national, Ronni Marco Kristian Uolevi, 42.
Matheus said an autopsy would be conducted to determine how many rounds fired from the suspects firearm, struck the deceased.
The suspect is still at large but police are closing in on leads that would lead to his arrest, Matheus said.
In a separate incident, a 19-year-old woman was stabbed to death with a knife by her boyfriend at the Ehambo da Nehale area in Katutura at about 11h00 on Thursday last week. The suspect then committed suicide an hour later.
The suspect, identified as Christof Ndemweetela, 25, allegedly stabbed Heneliate Mwetiteya to death and fled to his residence in the Gabes location in Katutura, where he hung himself with a cable in his bedroom.
The suspect did not leave a suicide note. Both deceaseds next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
In yet another loss of life, a teenage boy was stabbed to death by a 22-year-old man in the Dordabis area, east of Windhoek, on Friday at about 12h30
The deceased, identified as Quinton Doeseb, and the suspect were attending a memorial service in that area when an argument broke out between Doeseb and the suspects younger brother.
The suspect allegedly intervened to protect his younger brother and the incident resulted in the stabbing.
The suspect has been arrested and is due to appear in the Windhoek Magistrates Court on Monday.
The deceaseds next of kin have been informed.
