Boy, 11, takes his own life

WINDHOEK, 09 AUG (NAMPA) – An 11-year-old boy allegedly hung himself with a rope under a tree at the Okashanakelago village of the Oshikoto Region on Sunday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Spokesperson, Slogan Matheus informed the media on Sunday that the incident happened at about 11h00.
He said no suicide note was left behind and the Police at Omuthiya are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, three other incidents of suicide were recorded by NamPol this past weekend.
A 41-year-old man allegedly hung himself with a rope in a bedroom he was renting in the Omakulukuma area in Ondangwa at about 11h00 on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ashikoto Samwel Hangula.
No suicide note was left behind and police investigations into the matter continue.
Kalenga Fillipus, 35, also allegedly hung himself with a rope in his sleeping hut at Ehafo village at Eheke in Ohangwena Region on Saturday at about 17h00.
The motive behind the suicide has not yet been established as no suicide note was left behind.
Katima Mulilo resident, Libuo Oscar Gilson, 54, also allegedly took his own life by shooting himself with a shotgun at his residence in the presence of his wife.
The incident occurred at the Chikali Village in the Kaenda area at about 23h50 on Friday.
It is alleged that the deceased’s wife observed him taking his shotgun and asked him where he was taking it to at that time of the night.
The deceased then pointed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.
No suicide note was left behind.
