Six people perish in road accident outside Okahandja

OTJIWARONGO, 02 AUG (NAMPA) – Six people died and 10 others were seriously injured in a road accident on the Otjiwarongo-Okahandja road ion Sunday evening.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview that the accident occurred some 33 kilometres outside Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa region, at approximately 19h15 on Sunday evening.
“A total of three vehicles were involved and six people died on the scene, consisting two children and four adults. A total of 10 other people sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Okahandja State Hospital the same Sunday evening,” Mbeha said.
She said two pickup vehicles and an SUV were the three vehicles involved in the accident.
She added that one pickup had burst into flames and burned completely on the scene with one occupant in it.
No further information on the accident was available.
Police investigations in the matter are continue.
