Truck drives into taxi, killing two

ONGWEDIVA, 30 JUL (NAMPA) - Four people died in an accident on the B1 road between Ondangwa and Omuthiya on Wednesday.
Speaking to Nampa in a telephonic interview from Tsumeb, the Commander of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region, Commissioner Anne-Marie Nainda, confirmed the accident.
It took place near the Onankali settlement at around 22h30 involving a truck and a taxi.
Nainda said the truck allegedly drove into the taxi from behind, causing the taxi to burst into flames.
Reports have it that the taxis driver and three passengers were burned beyond recognition, while the truck driver, who was travelling alone, sustained slight injuries.
A case of culpable homicide was opened against the truck driver at the Okatope police station.
Although two of the deceased have been identified, Nainda said their next of kin were still to be informed of their death.
