OTJIWARONGO, 28 JUL (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob and his family last Thursday donated blankets, wheelchairs, shoes and water containers to the San community in the Tsumkwe Constituency.
The hand over took place at the Tsumkwe settlement, situated more than 250 kilometres east of Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region.
The Otjozondjupa Regional Governor, Otto Ipinge delivered the items to the San community on behalf of the Geingob family. The donation follows the president’s visit to the area in May this year.
It consists of 400 blankets, 80 wheelchairs, 150 pairs of adult sports shoes, 300 25-litre water containers and 200 25-litre buckets.
The items are worth more than N.dollars 380 000.
Ipinge urged businesspeople and other stakeholders in the community to emulate the good example set by the Geingob family in assisting the marginalised community members of the Tsumkwe Constituency.
He praised Geingob for his goodwill, which he said is in line with the president's slogan that “No Namibian should feel left out”.
The governor also thanked the president for the creation of the new Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare.
The donated items were divided among the community members in Ipinge’s presence, and was also witnessed by Chief of the Ju/‘Hoansi Traditional Authority, Bobo Tsamkxao #Oma.
