Sikongo Haihambo has been appointed as the new acting Statistician General for the Namibia Statistics Agency. Haihambo will be the acting SG for the NSA as from the August 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016.
He is the former deputy Chief Executive Officer of operations of the Millennium Challenge Account Namibia. NSA Board of Directors appointed Haihambo in line with the provisions of the Statistics Act No. 9 of 2011 which states that if the office of the SG is vacant, the board must appoint another person with appropriate knowledge or experience to act as SG.
NSA Board Chairperson, Florette Nakusera said the board is confident that Haihambo will be able to lead the NSA during the abovementioned period, according to the best of his abilities. “Furthermore, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms.
Liina Kafidi for her selfless efforts in steering the Agency during the six months of her acting as the SG, which acting period is coming to an end on the 31st of July 2015. The NSA will continue to implement its strategy and will remain a professionally run statistical authority as mandated by the Statistics Act,” Nakusera said.
