Driver in Hochland Park fatal accident gets bail

WINDHOEK, 06 JUL (NAMPA) – The young man accused of killing a police officer and two civilians while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol over the weekend, was released on bail in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court here on Monday.
Morne Mouton, 18, made a brief appearance in court before Magistrate Jermaine Muchali Muchali and was granted bail of N.dollars 6 000.
He was arrested on Saturday on charges of culpable homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol, after he allegedly ran over two civilians and an on-duty City Police officer along Sam Nujoma Drive in Hochland Park at about 04h00 on Saturday morning.
Mouton was allegedly driving a Volkswagen sedan vehicle at a high speed whilst heavily intoxicated, and hit the three men who were standing on the side walk.
The deceased persons, identified as Werner Simon, 22; Joshua Ngenokesho, age unknown; and City Police officer Manfred Gaoseb, 35, were instantly killed in the accident, while another man and a female police officer were unharmed.
In court, Mouton was represented by legal practitioner Ray Rukoro, while Prosecutor Erastus Hatutale represented the State.
The case was postponed to 08 December 2015 for further investigation and laboratory results.
