OTJIWARONGO, 28 JUN (NAMPA) – The Swapo Party acting president, Dr Hage Geingob wants to see the DTA of Namibia “slaughtered and buried” at the Otjiwarongo by-election on 09 July 2015.
Geingob was speaking during his party’s closing campaign at the Mokati Sports Stadium here on Sunday in support of his party’s candidate, Julius Neumbo.
Swapo and the DTA of Namibia are the only parties that will contest the Otjiwarongo by-election.
The by-election was necessitated by the appointment of former Otjiwarongo Constituency Regional Councillor, Otto Ipinge, as Otjozondjupa Regional Governor in April this year.
He replaced former Otjozondjupa Regional Governor, Samuel Nuuyoma who retired.
“Where is the Congress of Democrats (CoD)? Now we will bury the DTA. We will first slaughter it, hold a funeral and bury it on 09 July 2015 at the Otjiwarongo by-election.
“We can only do that if you all come out in large numbers and vote for Neumbo,” said Geingob, who is also Namibian president.
He described Neumbo as a peacemaker, teacher and a well-known good man in the Otjiwarongo Constituency.
Geingob then walked with Neumbo around the sports field to show him off to the Swapo supporters.
The 61-year-old Neumbo is a retired principal of the Karundu Primary School.
He is the deputy chairperson of the Otjiwarongo Town Council’s management committee, and the political party’s Otjozondjupa regional treasurer.
The DTA of Namibia, the official opposition political party in the country, has chosen Emeralda Esme !Aebes, 33, as its candidate.
She is a teacher at the same Karundu Primary School.
