WINDHOEK, 31 JUL (NAMPA) - Bank Windhoek has availed N.dollars 40 000 to the House of Women (HOW) for the hosting of their annual Namibia Women's Summit.
The summit is set to take place in Swakopmund in the Erongo Region from 07 to 09 August this year.
A media statement from Bank Windhoek on Wednesday said the summit, currently in its seventh year, will be held under the theme “Let the Light Shine Through”.
It aims to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs to network and share best-practices in order to broaden their involvement in national development.
The founder of the summit, Anne Thandeka Gebhardt was quoted as saying in the statement that HOW's ultimate goal is to create opportunities for women entrepreneurs, and to develop their capacity to successfully run their own businesses, as well as to improve their access to financing.
“We are proud to once again have Bank Windhoek as a partner in our quest to contribute to the promotion of gender equality through the development of sustainable women enterprises,” she noted.
Also quoted in the statement was the Executive Officer of Marketing and Corporate Communication Services at Bank Windhoek, Marlize Horn, who said the bank has confidence in the leadership of HOW as organiser of the Namibia Women's Summit to create opportunities for young and upcoming women entrepreneurs, and to mentor them through their journey to success.
“Bank Windhoek is committed to supporting women entrepreneurs. This is evident through our long-standing relationship with HOW, and also in our financing of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through the bank’s Emerging Small and Medium Enterprises’ (ESME) branch.
The majority of the SME loans are availed to previously disadvantaged Namibians, with a strong focus on support to women entrepreneurs,” she stressed.
