WINDHOEK, 19 JUN (NAMPA) – The Brave Warriors’ interim coach Ronny Kanalelo says he wants to do his best to help the team win their match against Zambia on Sunday.
Kanalelo made this remarks in a media statement issued by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) on Friday.
Kanalelo, who was the senior national team’s assistant coach, was appointed as interim coach of the Brave Warriors by the NFA after the resignation of coach Ricardo Mannetti on Thursday.
He said he is ready for the challenge of guiding the Brave Warriors through the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Zambia.
“The coach came here and broke the news to the players and thanked them for everything. I can see the players are dejected, it is only natural. They had personal and professional relationships with the coach,” Kanalelo said, adding that they will miss Mannetti but have a mandate to represent the country.
He stated that he was up for the job and will try to bring success to the team for the two matches against Zambia.
“I’m given the two matches and I want to do my best to help my national team. It’s not an easy situation right now but these things happen and I need to get the best out of the players come Sunday at home and in the return leg in Zambia as well,” he said.
The match will be played on Sunday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. It kicks off at 14h30.
Tickets are available from Computicket at N.dollars 40 each.
The players at Kanalelo’s disposal for the match are:
Goalkeepers: Lloyd Kazapua and Charles Uirab
