OKADHIMETI, 15 JUN (NAMPA) – The headman of the Ondonga Traditional Authority Okadhimeti village, Martin Shambo has donated 200 blankets and matrasses to pensioners at the Okaku and Okatyali constituencies in the Oshana Region.
The handing over of the blankets and matrasses took place at Okadhimeti on Saturday.
The event was attended by the Oshana regional councillors for the Okaku and Okatyali constituencies, Joseph Kapya Endjala and Joseph Nampala Mupetami.
Okadhimeti is situated in the Okaku Constituency.
Shambo has also donated blankets, matrasses and undisclosed amount of money to selected vulnerable children of his village.
His donation followed a request by Mupetami for him to offer some assistance to the Okatyali Constituency senior citizens who are vulnerable to cold temperatures during winter.
“Charity begins at home, so my councillor (Endjala) intervened and asked me to also include people of my home constituency in these small donations,” Shambo stated.
Speaking at the same event, Endjala and Mupetami described the headman as a Good Samaritan, saying his donation will bring change to the lives of impoverished members of the community.
