WINDHOEK, 04 JUN (NAMPA) - Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti will keep his winning squad to face Niger on 14 June in the 2017 African Nations Cup (Afcon) qualifier in Niamey.
He announced the squad during a media briefing in the capital on Thursday.
The match is scheduled for 14 June at the national stadium in the capital of Niger and not 13 June as announced earlier, because the latter day is convenient for the host nation.
Mannetti said he has decided to keep the same players who won the Council of African Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup on Saturday at the Moruleng Stadium in South Africa.
“At the moment I don't want to disrupt the team’s momentum and I selected the same squad that won us the Cosafa Cup to travel to Niger for our first qualifier game.
“We have a hectic month ahead because after Niger we will play Zambia in the Chan (African Nations Championship) at home on 21 June, but I will announce that squad when we come back from Niger on Monday or Tuesday,” he said.
The coach also announced that he will take nine extra players with to train with the team.
“These players are not in the final Chan squad but are just accompanying the team to train and gain experience from the senior players,” stated Mannetti.
