Grade 7 girl allegedly raped at Oshana village

OTJIWARONGO, 04 JUN (NAMPA) – A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Wednesday evening in the bushes outside Oshana village in the Oshikoto Region's Onyaanya Constituency.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Oshikoto Regional Crime Investigations Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua told Nampa in a telephonic interview on Thursday the girl is in Grade 7 at Onyaanya Primary School.
Katjiua said the 19-year-old suspect is known to the victim as they reside in the same village.
It is alleged that the suspect entered the house of the girl’s parents in their absence.
He then allegedly pulled her out of the house by force and dragged her into nearby bushes outside the village where he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The girl was taken to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital for medical examinations on Thursday morning.
The suspect was arrested by NamPol members at Okatope.
Police investigations continue.
