WINDHOEK, 26 MAY (NAMPA) The third tournament of the Namibia Pro-Tennis Academy (PTA) Tennis Series took place here over the weekend.
The tournament was held at the tennis courts of the Windhoek High School, with 21 players battling it out for ranking points which will be used to determine the overall winners at the end of the season.
A media statement issued by PTA tennis series director and head coach Romeo van Wyk said Jamilla Hungamo won the mini category.
The second place went to Jozikee Tjaimba, while Rejoice Nawases had to settle for third place.
The mini category is for players aged between eight and 13.
Alwera Smith was first in the beginners category, edging past Faith Kahuure and Delicia Dirkse who had also been in contention for the top spot during the first two events.
Kahuure and Dirkse took second and third places, respectively.
Cleet Farmer won the intermediate category ahead of Mike Kambonde and Brandon Maasdorp.
Maasdorp had won the two previous events and he is expected to come out guns blazing in the next tournament to get back to his winning ways, said Van Wyk.
The PTA Tennis Series is hosted every month, but the tournament did not take place in April due to the school holidays.
