Cabinet approves members for Casino and Lottery Boards

WINDHOEK, 22 MAY (NAMPA) – Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET)’s proposal to appoint Board members for the Casino and Lotteries Boards.
The Minister of Information and Communication Technology Tjekero Tweya made this announcement on Thursday during a media briefing on the outcome of Cabinet’s third meeting held on Tuesday.
The members of the two boards will serve from 01 June 2015 for a period of 12 months or until the Gaming and Entertainment Control Bill and the Lotteries Bill are enacted by Parliament “so that these Board members can oversee this process of legislation,” Tweya explained.
Cabinet thus approved the appointment of Festus Katuna Mbandeka as chairperson of the Casino Board and Michael Mambo Mukete as chairperson of the Lotteries Board.
Mbandeka is currently the Head of Corporate Legal Services and Company Secretary of Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC).
Mukete is the Chief Executive Officer of E-Bank.

The other members of the Casino Board are:
- Kandi Shejavali as an alternative member to the position of chairperson. Shejavali is currently a Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor Consultant
- Tukaleni Emvula (MET Deputy Director), with Petrus Muteyauli (MET Deputy Director) as an alternative member;
- Jacoba van Ryn (Deputy Director in the Ministry of Health and Social Services - MoHSS), with Robert Platt (MoHSS Deputy Director) as an alternative member;
- Sem Shikongo (MET Director for Tourism and Gambling) as Secretary of the Board.

The rest of the Lotteries Board members are:
- Charmaine Schultz (Charmaine Shultz & Co Admitted Attorney) as alternative member to the position of chairperson;
- Seimy Shidute (MET Deputy Permanent Secretary), with Louisa Mupetami (MET Deputy Permanent Secretary) as alternative member;
- Jacoba van Ryn (MoHSS Deputy Director), with Rene Adams (MoHSS Control Social Worker) as alternative member;
- Milka Martha Mungunda (GIPF General Manager), with Jakobus Josua (Epangelo Mining’s Corporate Legal Advisor and Company Secretary) as alternative member;
- Sem Shikongo (MET Director for Tourism and Gambling) as Secretary of the Board.
