OTJIWARONGO, 18 MAY (NAMPA) Eighteen suspected illegal immigrants were arrested at Otjiwarongo on Friday evening during a police operation.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Otjozondjupa Regional Police Chief Inspector, Michael Maikudumu told Nampa in an interview Monday that all are male Angolan nationals between 18 and 25 years old.
They were arrested during our intensified foot and mobile police operation around Otjiwarongos central business area, he said.
Maikudumu said that the suspected illegal immigrants were found operating businesses at different places around Otjiwarongo with no valid documents permitting them to do business here.
They are now being kept at the Otjiwarongo police station's holding cells, awaiting the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration to take over the case.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
