OSHAKATI, 15 MAY (NAMPA) – The Oshakati Totem Exposition (expo) has attracted 140 exhibitors who will showcase their products and services here from 30 May until 06 June this year.
“The preparations of the expo have been finalised and the public should expect new things during the show this time around,” said spokesperson of the Oshakati Town Council, Jackson Muma.
He told Nampa on Friday that 16 totem floats, including floats from the two Kavango regions, Otjozondjupa and Zambezi, will be on display during the event.
The totem groups from the Kavango East and West regions, as well as the Otjozondjupa Region will participate in the show for the first time, while one from Zambezi will appear for the second time following its first participation last year.
The floats will be paraded down the town’s main street on 30 May, 02 and 03 June.
“The float parades will end at the Oshakati Independence Stadium, which is the venue of the expo,” the spokesperson said.
He added that “ohungi”, which is a story telling session, will be conducted to the benefit of the young people on the first day of the expo and will focus on the origin of the totems.
A gala dinner held at Oshakati towards the end of last month raised N.dollars 1.6 million for the successful hosting of the 4th edition of the Oshakati Totem Expo.
