Two foreign nationals die in car crash outside Otjiwarongo

OTJIWARONGO, 14 MAY (NAMPA) Two foreign nationals died instantly on Wednesday on the B1 road after the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a truck outside Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Otjozondjupa Regional Chief Inspector, Michael Maikudumu told Nampa in an interview on Thursday one of the deceased, a man is from Zimbabwe, and the other from South Africa.
The two foreign nationals died on the spot due to the impact, while the 25-year-old truck driver sustained bodily injuries.
He was admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital Wednesday evening.
Maikudumu said the accident occurred shortly after 21h30 approximately 42 kilometres outside Otjiwarongo on the way to Okahandja.
He said the deceased mens Toyota pickup was driving from the direction of Okahandja to Otjiwarongo, while the truck with Ondangwa registration came from the opposite direction.
The two men were apparently contracted to build private houses in Otjiwarongo. They were transporting building materials when the accident occurred.
The deceased's relatives are yet to be informed, Maikudumu said.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
