PRESIDENT HAGE GEINGOB TO ATTEND AFRICAN UNION COMMITTEE OF 10 SUMMIT
Namibia will participate in the African Union (AU) Committee of Ten (C-10) Summit to be held in Livingstone, Zambia on 09 May 2015.
The Summit will be preceded by a Joint Ministerial and Permanent Representatives meeting on 08 May 2015.
The Namibian delegation will be led by His Excellency Dr. Hage G. Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia accompanied by Honourable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), together with Senior Officials from MIRCO.
The Committee of 10 was established by the AU in 2005 in order to promote and defend Africa’s common position on the reform of the United Nations’ Security Council.
The Summit is expected to discuss Reports on consultations that have been taking place to galvanise support for the African Common Position on the Reform of the UN Security Council as outlined in the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration.
The position of Africa is to secure two permanent seats on the UN Security Council.
The Committee consists of Sierra Leone (Chair), Algeria, Libya, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia and Zambia.
