OTJIWARONGO, 06 MAY (NAMPA) – A 40-year-old Angolan charcoal worker at Farm Sterrenberg near Grootfontein was allegedly stabbed to death by a colleague on Wednesday morning.
Sterrenberg is situated a few kilometres north of Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Chief Inspector, Naukalemo Andreas told Nampa in an interview on Wednesday the deceased died on the spot at around 02h00 on Wednesday morning.
The deceased’s name is known but cannot be released at this stage as his next of kin are yet to be informed.
It is alleged that the suspect, who is also an Angolan national, first started to physically assault his girlfriend during a quarrel at the farm.
According to Andreas, the deceased then went out of his house to intervene and stop the suspect from assaulting her when the suspect pulled out the knife and stabbed the deceased in the neck once.
The suspect then immediately fled the farm and by Wednesday afternoon was still at large.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
