WINDHOEK, 05 MAY (NAMPA) The coach of the senior national football team, Ricardo Mannetti on Tuesday announced the squad that will represent Namibia at the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup 2015.
The annual football tournament will this year be hosted in South Africas North West province from 17 to 30 May.
Namibia has been drawn in Group A alongside Zimbabwe, Seychelles and Mauritius. All their games will be played at the mining village of Moruleng.
Addressing the media after the teams first training session at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Tuesday, Mannetti said he will take a squad of 30 players to Cosafa, despite the tournament only requiring 20 players.
We decided to add extra players to the current team we have selected to just keep them busy and ready for the games that we will be playing in later this year, said Mannetti. He could however not release the extra players names as he said he has not yet decided whom to select from the current players that are in camp and training.
The Brave Warriors have two more championships to play in after the Cosafa Cup in May.
We are participating in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) qualifiers where we will play Niger and then we will play Zambia in the African Championship of Nations qualifiers (CHAN), said Mannetti.
