Kavango, Khomas and Zambezi win in Education Ministry sports eve

OSHAKATI, 05 MAY (NAMPA) - A joint team of the Kavango East and West regions was on Sunday crowned football champions in the 8th edition of the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture’s annual national sports event.
The six-day event took place from Tuesday to Sunday at the Oshakati Independence Stadium in the Oshana Region.
Teachers and other institutional workers from all 14 regional directorates of the education ministry were involved in football, volleyball and netball.
The Kavango football team beat Oshana 2-0 in the final played on Sunday, and received a trophy and gold medals.
Oshana took home silver medals, while defending champions, Khomas, walked away with bronze medals after beating Omaheke also by 2-0.
The Khomas women’s netball team successfully defended their title by handing Omaheke a 15-10 defeat.
The Zambezi men's volleyball team won the competition after beating neighbours Kavango 2-0 in the final.
Omaheke took the third position in volleyball after defeating the Kunene Directorate.
